Discover Joy as we Approach Fall - Art, Reflections and Upcoming Shows
Fall can be a time of joy, beauty and gratitude as we enjoy a period of cooler, clearer weather, and the beautiful colors of the mountains. leaves and shore. It's a time to be grateful and look forward as we begin thinking about the holidays ahead. It's also perhaps a time to look back at summer trips, the joy we've experienced over the past months this year, and to be grateful for friends and family.
Enjoy this scene of "Sally at the Farm," a memory of a good friend picking leaves for her mother to use to decorate the table for a celebration.

Last week's aurora borealis display was seen by so many around our country, even as far south as areas hard hit by recent hurricanes. Perhaps you got to see it, or even just enjoyed the many photos floating around on social media or in the news. I was lucky to be able to capture many images in a dark field, just northwest of Richmond, which inspired this painting below, which I call "Hope."

I experienced the beauty of dusk in August at Emerald Isle, N.C., one of my favorite spots, especially for the deer that roam the brush along the shores in the evening.

I painted a young deer, doing just that, along with my young grandnephew Tommy Ryan, as he fished along the shore.

Here's a small painting of sunset at Low Moor, Virginia...such a lovely place.
I hope this fall you take a break from the news, get out to the country or a beach and experience nature. I'm wishing you peace, joy, and a sense of gratitude to carry you through the fall.
